Powered by CAN (PbC) is looking for an creative, ambition thought provoker that uses the power of arts, culture and civic change as a as catalyst for every child in the Black Country. The Creative Programmes Producer will work alongside the Creative Director (CD), identifying and securing partnerships and collaboration opportunities in support of strengthening underserved communities of children, young people and young adults (under 35yrs).
The Creative Programme Producer should champion the rights for children, young people and young adults and drive opportunities for them to become socially engaged in arts, education, culture and civic change.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Artistic and Creative Programming
● To collaborate as part of the Management Team to drive Arts Council England’s Investment Principles/Outcomes & Let’s Create Strategy (including other governing/arms length organisations, with a focus on socially engaged practice.
● To develop relationships and partnerships across identified Priority Places/Leveling Up for Culture, with key stakeholders including local authorities, schools, health authorities and youth services.
● To connect with local to national strategic partnerships, to influence conversations within the sector.
● To support and empower the cultural and creative education plan with schools, alternative providers and community organisations, to provide high-quality and hands on art/creative events, workshops, courses and opportunities for children, young people and young adults.
● To develop and co-ordinate creative placements and internship opportunities for 16-25 year olds.
● To become one of our Ambition and Quality Investment Principles Champions.
Culture, Civic Change and Community
● To drive the principles of innovation, social action, social change and social enterprise that underlie all PbC programmes with a strong awareness of current youth trends.
● To offer support and guidance to freelance staff of the PbC arts, culture and creative projects and assist on our Youth Management Board (YMB) and Project Steering Committees.
● To lead the team on pro-active approaches to co-creation within the local community. Partnerships and Networking
● To connect key stakeholders and partners by utlising our networks locally to nationally to support programming/new projects to align with the work of PbC for children, young people and young adults. ● To assist on PbC’s strategic positionality across the Midlands, in particular the hosting of Sandwell Cultural Education Partnership and Sandwell Cultural Compact.
● Attend conferences, performances, events and/or festivals to maintain a strong awareness of current trends for emerging talent.
Administration and Communication
● Be responsible for completing all relevant paperwork in alignment with PbC’s policies and procedures.
● To oversee the required day to day management of projects including, budgets, payment schedules and produce reports for internal and external stakeholders.
● To co-ordinate appointed staff, primarily PbC’s arts, culture and civic change team, to work on open access targeted programmes and events that support the development of children, young people and young adults to emerge, engage and enjoy the arts, along with monitoring and evaluating the participant journey’s and programme impact, for internal and external reporting.
● To communicate effectively with PbC Development, Marketing and Income Generation team to align external communications and enable programme sustainability and growth according to participant need and demonstrating rating impact.
● To provide development and learning to members of the Youth Management Board (YMB).
General Responsibilities.
● To support and motivate the team to drive performance.
● To represent the organisation within local and regional networks of supporters and stakeholders.
● To participate in regular team meetings and supervision meetings.
● Attend ideas meetings and contribute to discussions about the future of PbC.
● To identify personal development and training opportunities for self and team & disseminate CDP & training opportunities to PbC staff.
● To contribute ideas that may support the ongoing development of the organisation.
● To contribute to the programming and administration of bespoke commissioned services. ● To ensure confidentiality within the organisation at all times.
● To participate in activities which fall outside of normal working hours as required, e.g. Training, Staff Meetings, Recruitment/Engagement events, fundraising events, etc.
● To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by SLT Equal Opportunities and Safeguarding
● To work within the organisation’s safeguarding and equal opportunities policies to ensure allocated staff and practitioners line managed by the role work within the organisation’s safeguarding and equal opportunities policies.
● To undertake relevant risk assessments before undertaking events/projects/activities for which the role has direct responsibility.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
● A minimum of 3 years in a similar role with the Cultural, Creative, Education and Youth sectors.
● A keen and active interest in the vision and purpose of PbC and a knowledge of the culture, creative, education and youth sectors.
● Working knowledge of the Black Country and surrounding areas (including knowledge of marginalised communities).
● To have an awareness of ACE’s Let’s Create and investments
● To respond to new challenges with agility and a proactive approach with an understanding of equal opportunities and cultural diversity issues in the delivery of our services.
● Working knowledge of relevant software packages (Microsoft Office Suite, Google).
Desirable
● A degree or equivalent experience/qualification(s) in the Cultural, Creative, Education and Youth contexts.
● Knowledge of youth work and/or previous experience of working within a youth-led organisation, especially from safeguarding perspective.
