Reflecting on our Conduit X Known Impact NGO Careers event

Known Impact 11 June 2024

Earlier this year we worked with The Conduit to host The Conduit X Known Impact NGO, non-profit, and charity careers event.

A big thank you again to everyone that came!

The Conduit is actively expanding their reach and accessibility to students (from undergraduates all the way through to PhD  level). They are particularly interested in expanding their access to young adults and so as well as their memberships have events and opportunities for non-members. This was a great opportunity to prioritise groups of people who may never usually get opportunities or access to things like this, be aware of them and or/ where more representation, inclusion, and equity is needed. So it was great to see the turn out and the ripple effect of impact the event has had on attendees as well as The Conduit achieving key metrics set before the event. We look forward to seeing what everyone involved does next.

A special shoutout to:

🎤Josh Robinson as the panel facilitator representing student voice and The Conduit for the evening, currently studying at King’s College London

🌟 Elizabeth Baillie at The Conduit for making this possible and bringing everyone together

Thank you to the panellists. Some highlights that were shared at the end of the event from attendees were about how much they appreciated how 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 all of the panellists were with their answers and the insights and tips they all shared through their stories and experiences:

Ghino Parker – Director at SEEN Barnardo’s and Trustee at the Refugee Council. Previously a Corporate Social Responsibility consultant and strategic local authority youth development lead

Lola Fayokun – Co-Founder of Breathe, youth climate justice campaigner, public speaker and more to come!

João Marçal-Grilo – Founding Director of Jaya Mental Health and qualified mental health nurse

Ithar Ghalifa – Humanitarian business officer at Oxfam and UN Women delegate for the commission on the status of women

Shabby Amini – Fundraising and communications strategic consultant with a list of clients including: UK for UNHCR, CARE USA, Shelter, DEC, Anti-Slavery International and Lumos. Previously Executive Director at Comic Relief and CARE International UK

All of these people have done incredible work way beyond what these summaries capture so do check them out.
